Every single paseo piece begins with hand kneaded and locally sourced clay by expert artisans. The clay is then hand-pressed into plaster molds one-by-one, then the pieces are sun dried and fired. Now ready for multiple coats of glaze to be applied then shipped directly to you. This traditional handmade talavera production has been passed down through generations of our artisans in the San Miguel de Allende, Mexico area.

San Miguel de Allende

TECHNICAL

  • Material: Clay
  • Finish: Gloss
  • Texture: Smooth
  • Thickness: 3/8"
  • Variation: V3 (Moderate Variation)

AVOID USE

RECOMMENDED USE

  • Residential interiors, flooring, vertical applications, mudrooms, kitchen islands and backsplashes, entryways, fireplace surrounds, showers, stair risers, steam rooms, decorative or feature walls.
  • Commercial areas, such as restaurants, bars, and offices.
  • Some outdoor applications, such as outdoor kitchens and showers, in warmer climates.

CRAZING

Handmade tiles often feature crazing. Crazing refers to fine cracks within the outer layer of glaze. Crazing is a natural result of ceramic production and can occur prior to and after installation. Sometimes crazing will not appear until years after installation. Crazing does not affect the durability of ceramic products.

We recommend dip sealing handmade clay tiles if used in exterior applications and advise against high pigmented grouts.

High-pigmented grouts can stain crazed tiles creating a high contrast emphasis of the crazing. If a high pigmented grout is desired, we recommend to use a grout release prior to grouting and to test a small area prior to full application.

  • Areas exposed to freezing conditions
  • Sloped floors in wet areas
  • High traffic flooring
  • Stair treads
  • Commercial kitchens
