DESCRIPTION AND COLOR
D'Hanis Red Terracotta
D'hanis Red Terracotta tiles are inspired by one of our favorite tiles that were produced in D’hanis, Texas for over a century. Original D'hanis tiles were commonly used throughout the 1960s but are no longer in production.
Designers and architects took note and are now specifying Clay Imports’ D'hanis Red Terracotta tiles to achieve a Mid-century modern aesthetic. D'Hanis features a less variation in coloration and size than Saltillo tile. Its natural red coloration, flatter surface and a smooth satin finish make D'Hanis red our most predictable terracotta tile.
SHEEN
SATIN, Satin sealer offers a comparable level of protection as our gloss seal without the reflection, making it ideal for high traffic applications.

GROUT
TYPE We recommend Mapei Natural Saltillo grout for D'Hanis Red Terracotta
JOINTS Saltillo tile joint spacing can be as wide as 3/4” and go as small as 1/4.” Generally, smaller joints are used with smaller tiles (6” and under) and tend to create a more modern look. Larger joints are used with larger tiles and maintain the traditional look.

PRODUCTION
In Saltillo, Mexico clay is harvested from the surrounding area to produce D'Hanis Red Terracotta tiles. The manufacturing process is carried out entirely by generations of skilled craftsmen from the region.
