CUSTOMIZATION

Most are familiar with Saltillo tile's gold and amber hues that pair perfectly with almost any design style. Organic terracotta has a slightly consistent shade of orange, with more saturated honey tones. The same natural clay aesthetic you've come to love but in a different distinctive tone.

RECOMMENDED USE

• Interior walls and flooring, kitchen islands, entryway walls, backsplashes, fireplace surrounds and decorative walls.
• Commercial flooring, decorative areas such as restaurants feature walls, bar faces or walls, and office walls.
• Stair risers/ Treads
• Some outdoor applications under a covered area. Outdoor kitchens in warmer climates and most areas not directly exposed to freezing conditions.

AVOID USE

Areas exposed to harsh freezing conditions, sloped floors in wet areas, and shower floors or walls.

INSTALLATION

Organic Terracotta requires additional sealing resulting in a longer installation process. We recommend using one of our recommended or an installer who is familiar with installation of unsealed terracotta. It is HIGHLY recommended to seal Organic Terracotta tiles before and after installation. You can find an installation roadmap using our Ultra Low VOC sealer on our website.

SEALING

Organic Terracotta arrives to you UNSEALED and it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to apply sealer to this tile to avoid water absorption. We recommend our Ultra-Low VOC sealer but other sealers can be used, we recommend to test your sealer on a few pieces prior to full application

STAINING

It is possible to apply stain Organic Terracotta tile, by applying a linseed oil wood stain and oil-based sealant mixture. This ratio of sealant to stain will depend on the opacity desired. We do not recommend to apply a stain directly to the unsealed terracotta as it can result in intense coloration and streaking. It is important to test your stain mixture on a few pieces prior to application o make sure you are satisfied with the result. This mixture can be applied by spraying or as a rag application for a more distressed look. Once the stain has been applied, we recommend using a water-based top coat sealant. Do not use an oil based sealant for the top-coat.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

Organic Terracotta does require maintenance over time. We recommend regular cleaning of your terracotta with a non-acidic and ammonia-free cleaning product. We use fabuloso, when using a new cleaner we recommend to test a small unnoticeable area.

Organic Terracotta will need to be have the top-coat sealant reapplied periodically. The timeframe between resealing will depend on your prefered patina and the application of your terracotta. Exterior, high-exposure and high-traffic applications will need to be resealed more often.
